SHORT BIO

Willie du Plooy holds dear the values he was taught growing up in Greyton. With a passion for people, animals, and plants he enjoys spending time with friends and family, pets, the outdoors, and his garden. He enjoys DIY, reading, long motor cycle rides, challenging 4x4 routes, and walks on the beach. He works in the IT industry and live in Cape Town. Alternatively, he spends time in Hermanus. Willie has extensive management experience, is a certified technical trainer, and holds various IT certifications ranging from web development through to IT governance. He completed a postgraduate diploma in business administration (PDBA) and a master’s degree in labour law, both from the University of Cape Town. The LLM, with mediation as elective, was supplemented with the UCT/MiM commercial mediation course, while also training as a coach at the UCT GSB Centre for Coaching. He has over 28 years of experiencing working in the insurance industry, project management field, customer service, communications management, and IT management. He chairs disciplinary hearings in various disciplines, but prefer coaching and mentoring people. Willie is passionate about helping parties reconcile and wants to use mediation to help people avoid the sometimes lengthy and costly alternatives.
