SHORT BIO

Mark Skriker has been employed in the public sector for 22 years. He was the Manager of the City of Cape Town's Integrated Public Transport Branch and was one of the pioneers of the MyCiti Bus Project. He was also the project manager of the City's Dial-a-ride project and produced the City's first public transport plan. He joined the Provincial Government in 2010 as the Provincial Taxi Registrar and was also responsible for the Dispute Resolution Unit in the Western Cape. He is the only Taxi Registrar to secure a 30-month period without a single taxi-related murder being reported. He has mediated in several high-profile taxi conflicts and is the author of several public transport policy documents. He is currently the Chairperson of the Western Cape Provincial Regulatory Entity. Under his leadership the PRE has annexed several awards for red tape reduction and service delivery. In 2018 he received the second runner-up award at the National Transport Awards (Best male employee in Transport). He is also a former President of the Caledonian Roses Rugby Club and coached the Falsebay Region (under 18) during the 2018 rugby season.
