SHORT BIO

Elise is an Occupational Therapist and has completed further studies in life assurance and law. She joined the life insurance industry in 1990 when employed to pioneer a new claims service for a global reinsurer that established the framework for Functional Capacity Evaluations. She held the claims management position at three international reinsurance companies in South Africa and was a founding director of a Lireas Holdings backed company before she started a national consultancy in 2005. The consultancy was represented throughout South Africa until August 2016, at which stage Elise chose to specialise in contractual life and disability insurance; medico-legal; labour incapacity ill-health and divorce rehabilitative maintenance matters. She also has a substantial business coaching practice; co-authored a handbook on the South African Constitution while fulfilling the role of CEO of Accountability Now in 2012 and formed part of the global team of Levi Strauss when heading up the Red Tab Foundation case management program in South Africa from 2008 until early 2017. Elise is committed to establishing mediation as an efficient and cost-effective method of dispute resolution in the life insurance industry, specifically in incapacity and disability matters, while also using mediation in the medico-legal and labour incapacity domains.
