SHORT BIO

Chris Gouws I am an ophthalmologist (eye specialist). Undergraduate qualification, MBChB, from Stellenbosch University in 1987. Specialised in Ophthalmology at Free State University, and was awarded MMed Ophth (Cum Laude) and Fellowship of the College of Surgeons (SA) in 1997. On the specialist register of the General Medical Council in the UK. Past President of the Ophthalmological Society of SA and a past chair of the board of Ophthalmology Management Group. President of the SA Vitreoretinal Society (2017-2018). I have interests in workable solutions to conflict and reconciliation. Other interests: Mountain biker (completed Cape Epic 2016 and 2017), wannabe flautist, photographer.
